Hotel Skeppsholmen is located on the leafy island of Skeppsholmen, right in Stockholm yet surprisingly calm. The hotel is housed in two long buildings from 1699 that were originally built for King Charles XII's dragoons, and have been carefully transformed into a hotel by the architects Claesson Koivisto Rune.

The rooms are bright and minimalistic with Scandinavian design, and many have views of the water or the park. The restaurant Långa Raden serves classic Swedish home-cooking with a modern touch, and during the summer the life moves out to the terrace overlooking the water through the trees. In front of the hotel is Sweden's first outdoor tennis court, built by Oscar II in 1882.

With the Moderna Museet and ArkDes as neighbors and the boat to Djurgården and Gamla stan just around the corner, Hotel Skeppsholmen is a perfect choice for a culturally rich city weekend where nature and water are always close at hand.
