The Barö

The Barö is located by Barösund in Ingå's archipelago, about an hour's drive west of Helsinki and the airport. The hotel opened in 2021 and is built to impact the sensitive archipelago nature as little as possible – the rooms are in their own wooden houses scattered in the forest down towards the water.

The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea and a stripped-back, subdued lighting that allows the view to take center stage. In the restaurant The Berg, new Scandinavian cuisine is served with local ingredients, and by the beach, there is a sauna with panoramic windows, a jacuzzi, and the opportunity to dip into the sea. The hotel lends out bicycles and canoes for excursions around the islands.

The Barö is perfect for a romantic archipelago weekend – and is easy to combine with a few days in Helsinki.
