Thorskogs Slott

Thorskogs Slott is situated by the Göta River in Bohuslän, surrounded by dense forest and just half an hour north of Gothenburg. The castle was built in 1892 by shipyard patron Petter Larsson, who electrified his business as early as the 1880s - the castle's own power plant still supplies more than half of its electricity needs. Over the years, both presidents and prime ministers have stayed here, and Thorskog has been named Castle Hotel of the Year several times.

The 40 rooms are individually decorated and distributed between the castle itself and the old buildings in the castle park, such as the Forge, the Mill, and the Gardener's House. The restaurant is selected by White Guide and is based on seasonal produce from West Sweden, and the house sommelier chooses the wines from the castle's own wine cellar. After dinner, wood-fired hot tubs, sauna, pitch & putt in the park, and a bar in the cellar vaults await.

Thorskogs Slott is perfect for a romantic castle weekend with good food – or an active weekend with golf at nearby courses, fishing, and horseback riding in the Svartedalen Nature Reserve. Dogs are welcome in several of the rooms.
