Svinøya Rorbuer

Svinøya Rorbuer is located on the small island of Svinøya, just a bridge from central Svolvær in Lofoten. It was here that Svolvær first began to be built in the early 1800s, and today the island is a vibrant fishing village with fish reception, drying racks, and piers – with open sea on one side and Lofoten's jagged mountains on the other.

You can stay in restored fisherman's cabins, called rorbuer, historic houses, apartments, or in the exclusive Væreiergården. Many of the cabins retain their original timber paneling and have their own kitchen. The restaurant Børsen Spiseri is located in a pier warehouse from 1828 and serves Nordic cuisine with ingredients from Lofoten, and outside the restaurant, there is a floating sauna with a view of the harbor.

Svinøya is suitable for an authentic and seaside weekend in Lofoten – with northern lights from September to April, hiking and kayaking in the summer, and a short distance to both the airport, boat, and bus.
